INDIA: The Gem Palace

Jaipur, Rajastan, India

Jaipur's Gem Palace was established in 1852 by the Kasliwal family of Jaipur. In the jewel business for over eight generations, the Kasliwals were once the court jewellers of Moghul emperors.

The Gem Palace's reputation remains intact today: the Metropolitan Museum in New York has assigned a permanent window for the Gem Palace to display its products, the only jewellery maker ever to get this honour.

Previous clients that have travelled half way around the world to buy from the palace include Lord and Lady Mountbatten, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Mick Jagger, Angelina Jolie and the Queen of Spain to name but a few.
